Ultimate Time Slips

Ultimate Time Slips

On August 10,1901, two British educators, Charlotte Moberly and Elenor Jourdain, travelled to the famous Versailles Palace in France.

They were not overly impressed and decided to take a walk through the gardens of the Petit Trianon.

When they arrived it was closed to the public. They got lost trying to go back to a street within the complex and ended up walking through what appeared to be a small, rural town.

The town was purposely built by Marie Antoinette, the infamous and last Queen of France. She wanted to experience rural French life apart from the grandeur of her own.

Google says, “Hameau de la Reine (Queen's Hamlet) at the Palace of Versailles is an artificial hamlet built for Marie Antoinette in the late 1780s, designed to resemble a rustic village where she could escape the formality of court life."

As the Educators entered the area they felt a change that was hard to describe. Moberly later wrote in her book titled ‘The Adventure’, “Everything suddenly looked unnatural, therefore unpleasant; even the trees seemed to become flat and lifeless, like wood worked in tapestry. There were no effects of light and shade, and no wind stirred the trees.”

Within that area they began seeing people dressed in clothes from the pre-revolutionary period in France. After coming across several, they noticed a well dressed woman who was sketching. They both later agreed that she looked like Marie Antoinette from a painting they had previously seen.

Not sure what they were experiencing, Moberly and Jourdain assumed these were historical reenactors. After they returned to the main palace area for tourists they found out that no such historical recreations or reenactors existed.

I discovered this story while reading a book on Retrocognition as a young teen. Unlike Precognition which offers views or knowledge of the future, Retrocognition allows people in the present to see and even experience times past. Today, an event like the one experienced by Moberly and Jourdain might be described as a Time Slip.

Google says, “A time slip is a phenomenon where someone experiences a shift in their perception of time, seemingly moving to a different point in time, often without a clear explanation or control. These experiences are usually brief and may involve a feeling of disorientation, or a sudden shift in surroundings to a different era.”

To me all these terms describe the same thing: An unexpected view of, or trip to, the past or future.  Over my many years of experience as a UFO and paranormal researcher and investigator, I've had the opportunity to investigate several time slips. One really got under my skin because it kind of involved me.

In the early 1990s I was presenting a seminar in the Chicago area. It was packed full, but I wanted to speak to some of the attendees who had their own stories to share afterward. One really caught my attention and came from a man who lived in a Chicago suburb. I had some time before my next seminar in another town, so I agreed to come to his home the next day.

The man was single, in his early twenties, lived in a large house and worked as a court and police sketch artist. The house had belonged to his grandmother who left it to him. He assumed he was seeing a ghost, but what he saw looked very real. Every so often he would be walking down a hall on the second floor, which led to several bedrooms, when he would suddenly see an attractive young girl walking towards him. She wore modern clothes, ignored him and walked into one of the bedrooms. By the time I met him this had happened five times in the last three years.

After discussing the situation with him and visiting the hallway, I came to an early conclusion that he was experiencing a time slip. Unlike most ghost cases, his apparition wasn't just full bodied, it looked very human. He made drawings of the woman and showed them all to me. Not wanting to be embarrassed by public scrutiny, he asked me not to share his case with anyone. I didn't.

Three years later I was presenting another seminar in the Chicago area. He attended and brought someone with him. To my astonishment, she looked just like the girl in his sketch. He introduced her and winked at me. It was his wife! They had met a year and a half ago during a court case where both were sketch artists, and married just three months ago. He did not share his story with her for some time. When he did, she was as astonished as I was. More later.
