Whether you're looking to casually date, hook-up, marry or just have a night of fun, there are countries for Americans to visit or avoid. As a guy I'm kind of jealous. Most American girls have it easy when it comes to finding a guy internationally. That's because guys everywhere are always on the hunt.

I'm well travelled enough to offer good advice on these matters. The bad news for American guys is that some countries with attractive girls are the worst places for male travellers to find what they're looking for. I personally prefer European, Scandinavian, Spanish, Japanese and Canadian girls. Preferring doesn't mean getting.

Out of that short list Japan is the easiest place to meet girls. That's because Japanese girls are weary of strict relationship and lifestyle rules forced on them by a very traditional society. Japanese marriage and birth rates are down by substantial numbers and that's one of the reasons why.

In a nutshell, Japanese girls are lining up to get their hands on an oubeijin (westerner). There are many clubs and a vibrant nightlife in most larger cities. Girls there follow the three date rule (don't ask). I've noticed that we oubeijin often get a pass on that.

Study up. Japanese dating is much easier if you go there with a decent knowledge of their culture. Learn a few phrases like “Watashi wa anata to sekkusushitai”. Say it and you'll either have a wonderful time or get quickly abandoned. Unmarried girls 25 or older are considered less desirable by locals and might be an easier catch for Americans.

If you go to UK countries you’ll find beautiful girls. That doesn't mean you'll be able to tear down cultural differences enough to meet any. However, two things are in your favor. First, there are more girls than guys (97 guys for every 100 girls) in the UK. Second, in England some girls tend to be open to hanging out with American guys.

You are least likely to find any short or long term relationships among the beautiful girls in Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Ireland gives you a better shot because some girls are very interested in American culture. Scottish girls like our accents and informality, but worry about the long term. Wales tends to be more nationalistic with girls less interested in foreigners. Take a shot if you're already headed to those places for other reasons.

In Europe casual dating is not as common as in America. In Germany, for example, girls dating someone are automatically considered in a relationship. Girls under 21 are less approachable unless you are close to their age. German girls are very direct and may ask you for a date. Beware of prostitutes who ask for dates, then demand cash after the deed is done. If you're in a club, servers and bar tenders can warn you about which girls to avoid.

In Spain the girls are as beautiful as the country. The only problem is they tend to prefer Spanish or European men. The one thing in your favor might be that many younger Spanish women want to break out from their cultural beliefs of looking at family backgrounds which some consider more important than physical or intellectual attraction.

Denmark is one of the best places in its region to meet beautiful women. The Denmark city of Amsterdam is notorious for its red light district. Brothels and Pimps are illegal, but not prostitution. Beach nudity is not illegal. Danish girls are very direct and may ask you out. First dates might just be meeting for a coffee or a walk through a park and good conversation.

Like most Scandinavian countries, Sweden and Finland are very welcoming. Tourists are sometimes surprised when they meet a local and are invited to their house for dinner. English is taught from early grades in school and widely spoken. The women are beautiful and they know it. That makes them wary of foreigners who may be looking to score with one just to say they did.

Canada is a toss up. You have a better chance at meeting and connecting with a beautiful Canadian girl on a Florida beach, or at Disney World, than in Canada. That's because the country is notoriously liberal. Schools teach that Americans are dyed in the wool Capitalists unwilling to make the changes needed to join the modern world community of nations. I have visited there many times. People are friendly and welcoming. Some girls under 30 on their home soil, not so much. If you are not French or do not speak French, stay out of Quebec and keep away from Ottawa.

I encourage all Americans that travel outside of the USA to study up on their destinations, be honest and be respectful. Once when visiting Canada on business I was sitting with a friend at a restaurant. An elderly American woman was about to pay her bill when she looked down at the Canadian cash in her hand and said, “I don't know why they have to put the Queen of England's face on their money. She's not even dead yet.” She may have had a low opinion of the Queen, but that wasn't the time or place to share it.
