Fast Times At Boca Ciega High

FAST TIMES AT BOCA CIEGA HIGH

By Bill Knell

Over the past few years I have shared some of my experiences at Bogie. I had so many, for better or worse, that I wanted to allow others to enjoy my stories.

In my last post I expressed my adoration of the wildly unpredictable HARLEY QUINN and how one of the gals at Bogie kinda reminded me of her. Well, this is Part Two.

After my last post my friend Dave from school reminded me of some additional behaviors of this wild child that we both knew. It's weird because sitting at our lunch table she was affable and not quick to anger unless you made the mistake of saying or doing something inappropriate to her.

She was pretty so every once in a while some guy who didn't know better would come along, make a beeline to our lunch table and put their hands on her shoulders as a prelude to conversation. Huge mistake.

She would jump up out of her chair, swing around and push the guy away. I remember one guy said something like, "What's the matter with you, freak?" He kind of said it in jest, but to her it meant war!

She attempted to grab him by his shirt. He backed off quickly, spun around and made a fast exit laughing at her as he did. She didn't know who he was. Unfortunately for him a set of twins sitting at our lunch table did.

At first I thought she might just let sleeping dogs lie. She got rid of him and I figured that was that. I should have known better. My friend Dave, who was sitting at our lunch table, did know better. He had seen more of her antics that me.

Later that day Dave grabbed me as I was just getting out of a class. He said, "You gotta see this s__t." I followed him to another hallway where I saw our Harley wannabe standing over the guy that disrespected her during lunch. He was on the ground seemingly in pain.

Apparently, he was in a class with one of the twins. She told our wild girl where he would be.She waited in the library until just before his class let out, then stood on one side of the classroom door. When he came out she got in front of him and, according to the twin, kicked him as hard as she could in his private parts. Then it got even better.

As Dave and I watched this scene, our girl put on her Little Miss Perfect act. In a sincere sounding tone she said something like, "What happened? Are you OK?" It was hard for us not to bust out laughing!

The thing that amazed me was how she always managed to avoid the consequences of her actions. I think it was because her victims did not want to admit that this pretty, somewhat petite looking girl had kicked their butts.

Besides that awesome display of Girl Power, the one other incident that sticks out in my mind involved her and a big mouthed girl who was in my science class. She and her boyfriend were trouble and loved to bully people when the opportunity presented itself.

Another member of our Lunch League was a lovely and kind young lady who happened to be a dwarf. After eating we often went out to the sitting area next to the cafeteria. We enjoyed watching delivery trucks dropping off food to the kitchen.

Our fav was one that brought free government stuff like cheese and the dreaded cans of mystery meat that were simply labeled Cooked Meat. When opened, the stuff smelled bad.

The meat, whatever it happened to be, was cooked In the can. The lunch ladies would have to scrape this weird jelly off the meat before they could heat it up. We used to tease them as they came out to receive the free stuff.

Dave, a guy named Terry and I would beg the kitchen workers not to use the mystery meat. Terry would say, "Please Mrs Lady. Don't make us est that. It's made from body parts! I heard that if you eat it your teeth fall out." Terry was hilarious.

As we sat in the area next to the cafeteria, the mean girl from science class showed up with her boyfriend. She looked at our friend the little person and began a non-stop tirade asking, "Didn't I see you in the Wizard Of Oz? Why don't you go back to Munchkinland where you belong?" It got worse from there with her low class boyfriend chiming in with insults of his own.

I stood up wanting to put sn end to this lunacy. Just as I got up, Dave grabbed me, pointing to our wild girl. She was friends with our little person. It was obvious that she had been doing a slow burn since the arrival of the terrible twosome

Before I could think another thought, our pretty and seemingly well mannered friend was on her feet. She kicked the boyfriend in her usual way and she was wearing her clogs that day so that move incapacitated him. Then she went to work on the mean girl.

Kailey Fields offers readers fresh and very human fiction stories that are unique, yet relatable.

The seeds of her self-doubt had been sown in her early years. She'd been relentlessly bullied in school for being different, for her passion for gaming, which had been dismissed as a “boy thing.” That hurt had left deep scars. Creating Lemonade had been a shield, a way to deflect the negativity she faced in the real world. It was a safe space where she could be celebrated for her skills, her wit, and her personality, instead of facing ridicule.

The air hung heavy with the scent of damp earth and decaying leaves. Each step crunched on the forest floor, a sound amplified in the suffocating silence of the Blackwood Forest. My breath hitched in my throat, a thin plume of white mist disappearing into the inky blackness. The only light came from my lantern, a feeble spark against the overwhelming darkness that pressed in from all sides, swallowing the forest in its shadowy embrace. Above, the branches of ancient trees twisted like skeletal fingers, their gnarled silhouettes scratching at the moonless sky.

The darkness claimed me, swallowing me whole. But in death, a twisted metamorphosis occurred. The venom of betrayal, the searing agony of death, transformed into a cold, unrelenting fire. I became a specter, an instrument of vengeance. The chilling weight of my decomposing body became a burden that fueled my relentless pursuit.

Grandma Elara's tales filled the quiet evenings at her house. The aroma of woodsmoke and simmering herbs hung heavy in the air, mingling with the scent of old books and the comforting warmth of her presence. Her cozy old house seemed to hum with a gentle energy, a place where ancient stories and timeless secrets intertwined. The antique furniture, each piece telling a story of its own, seemed to come alive as she spun her tales, the very atmosphere of the house adding to the mystique of the Ceasg and its watery realm.

Cerelia, a museum employee with a penchant for the obscure and a healthy dose of skepticism tempered by an insatiable curiosity, had been cleaning the newly acquired collection of ancient artifacts. She was meticulous, and painstaking in her work, a sharp contrast to the hurried pace of the city outside the museum walls. She liked the quiet solitude of the museum, a world apart from the noisy urban jungle. She found solace in the relics of the past, each object whispering a story of bygone eras.

Aislinn felt it too, a growing sense of unease, not just from the tales of a missing Prince, but from the visions teased by the necklace. The shadowed figure, the one with piercing eyes and a cruel smile, haunted her dreams and even invaded her waking moments. He was connected to the necklace, a palpable sense of threat radiating from the glowing pendant. The prince's fate, she now realized, was entwined with her own. And somewhere, a darkness waited, a darkness that the necklace seemed both to warn her about and guide her towards. The quiet village of Oakhaven, with its familiar rhythms and predictable patterns, could no longer contain her.

She traced the lines on her palm, searching for a familiar scar, a birthmark, anything to tether herself to a stable identity. Nothing. Even her own body felt slightly different, as if her reflection in the warped mirror across the room was an imposter. The subtle variations – the way her hair fell, a new freckle on her cheek, the faintest shift in her eyes – were enough to unsettle her further. It was as if she was perpetually teetering on the edge of a precipice, the ground constantly shifting beneath her feet.
