A Review Of Bill Knell's UFOS: THE HISTORY AND EVIDENCE Presented At USF Tampa, FL...
"In the early 1960's, while attending the University of Dayton, I was a civilian employee of the United States Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, and lived in a house trailer across the highway from Area B (Aeronautical Systems Division, old Wright Field and home of the famous Building 18), when the Air Force Museum was in Fairborn and not in the middle of Area B and frequent SAC alerts rattled the trailer with B-52s and KC135s leaving the runway in Area C every 15 or 20 seconds. Those were the days of Major Donald Keyhoe and NICAP, Cpt. Edward J. Ruppelt and Project Bluebook, and the UFO flap of the late 50s and early 60s, and I was living at the epicenter of it all. I got hooked on the UFO phenomena then and wanted answers, even though my security clearance wouldn't even get me a haircut in the base barber shop, and I have been hooked on it ever since.
Most of the hand full of "UFO Experts" who I have heard speak at the University of South Florida all say the same thing. They begin by explaining how their UFO research is "a serious hobby" as one said. All of them make a living speaking at universities about their "serious hobby" and have agents that book them. When Mr Knell spoke at USF in Tampa I was astonished. He spent two hours talking about evidence and cases I was not aware existed. These were not a rehash of stories I heard before. I liked that Mr Knell was on the scene and personally investigated each of these incidents. He backed up his information with slides, video and audio clips.
Mr Knell was kind enough to speak with me and other audience members for another hour after his presentation. He was not an "apologist ufologist" like most of the others. He readily admitted making a living by speaking and writing about UFOs and other subjects. A few days later I was watching MEN IN BLACK on DVD. I happened to glance at the end credits while listening to a Will Smith song and discovered that Mr Knell was a consultant to the film for content. I was impressed and later realized that some of the lines spoken by Tommy Lee Jones came directly from Mr Knell's presentation. I watched a video of a lecture he gave years before and found that Mr Knell made those same statements. That gives him a lot of credibility as far as I am concerned." ...from a review printed in THE ORACLE (1998) and written by Dr. Martin Kish, Tampa, Florida; Computer Science consultant to DeVry Learning.
Bill Knell produced and hosted UFOs Over Long Island, an Emmy nominated CableVision TV show in the NYC and Long Island viewing areas. The Time/Life sponsored program aired weekly from 1989-92 and regularly beat the Network News broadcasts in ratings when we were all in the same time slot. Viewer fascination with the topic, an excellent co-host and a lineup of amazing guests made the entire experience a winning one for all involved.
Bill's very popular co-host was Candace Eaton, an award winning Long Island sketch and portrait Artist from Northport. Known as an excellent instructor, Candace taught college level art classes and had her own studio.
Deverah Lynn, also from Long Island, was our guest co-host. She was a local Radio Personality and Broadcast Journalist for NBC Overnight, broadcasting nationwide from New York City.
Implant Abductee Richard Price
Considered a UFO Expert by the media, Bill became a consultant to a number of films and TV productions including Independence Day, Men In Black, War Of The World's, The Fifth Element, Fire In the Sky and The X Files.
Bill also worked with actor, producer and writer Shawn Cassidy on several projects involving Paranormal topics. Shaun is David Cassidy's younger brother. Shaun Cassidy got his big break starring in the Hardy Boys / Nancy Drew Mysteries series. He quickly became a teen idol. Shaun has a terrific singing voice and had several hit records.
Shaun heard Bill Knell on the Mark and Brian Morning Show in L.A. around 1993 and was impressed with his knowledge of various paranormal topics. By that time he had morphed into a successful and gifted TV Producer and was planning several projects with UFO and the paranormal. He brought Bill on board as a consultant to American Gothic, Invasion, Strays and Cover Me.
In 1989 a NYC bus filled with passengers drove past Kissena Park in Flushing, Queens, New York City on its regular route along a street bordering the park. As it passed an area by the east side of the small lake ,the driver and bus riders saw a bright glow on the other side of the lake which attracted their attention. The driver stopped the bus thinking he was about to witness a helicopter crash. Instead, everyone on the bus saw a circular object, about thirty feet in diameter, with odd lights landing by a large tree.
The driver and bus riders saw a bright glow on the other side of the lake which attracted their attention. The driver stopped the bus thinking he was about to witness a helicopter crash. Instead, everyone on the bus saw a circular object, about thirty feet in diameter, with odd lights landing by a large tree.
Although no sound was heard, after a short time the object took off brushing the branches of the tree. Later, that tree started to die on the side that made contact with the object. Contrary to one completely bogus report, the tree was not burned sometime earlier by kids. There were absolutely no signs of the kind of damage that would result from a fire. It should also be noted that the the grass died in a circular pattern where the object landed. Odd, rock like material was found in the circle and no where else in the park. Street lamps surround the lake. Those directly in front of the affected tree and circular area were highly magnetized for no apparent reason.
Bill Knell received calls about the object on his UFO Sighting Hotline later that evening. An article about some of Bill's cases had appeared in NY Newsday a short time before. The article listed Bill's UFO hotline number which resulted in many calls about UFO sightings and encounters throughout the Long Island, New York City and New Jersey areas.
The bus driver and some passengers notified authorities and word quickly spread to the local news media. A few reporters called Bill who said he was already investigating the incident which later became known as The Kissena Park UFO Landing Case.
Mike Luckman and Bill Knell at Kissena Park
Mike Luckman, a NYC Publicist, Author and longtime UFO buff, called Bill a few days later and offered to organize a press conference at Kissena Park. Bill accepted his offer and the event was well attended by the news media. The print and broadcast news media that came included CNN, NBC Network News, NY 1; as well as Reporters and Journalists from all the local TV Stations and many print publications. Several foreign press representatives showed up that happened to be in New York City covering other stories. Within hours the story was on all the local TV and News Radio stations. Local, national and international newspapers and publications also featured stories about the UFO incident.
Thanks to tips later phoned in to Bill's UFO Hotline, he learned about and investigated even stranger events at another nearby park and former home of the New York World's Fair 1964-65. UFOs were seen over the Grand Central Parkway near Flushing Meadow Park. This has happened many times before.
