I was also equally lucky to develop an interest in UFOs, the paranormal, the unexplained and other unusual topics by the age of nine. Murp The Surf Loved Surfing and Stealing He was a surfing legend, but not necessarily for his board work. Jack “Murph the Surf” Murphy was born in Los Angeles in 1937, and traveled throughout Southern California during the Golden Age of Surfing. His dad was an electrical contractor, so the family was always on the move. Murphy ended up attending 12 grammar schools and three high schools. “We were always in the ocean,” Murphy once said. “When we could, we rode mats — the inflatable rubber ones you still see at the beach today.” By the time Murphy was a teenager, the lighter balsa surfboards had become available, so he and his surfer friends began to travel up and down the California coast to surf. Marzieh Ebrahimi: A Woman Of Courage By Bill Knell Marzieh Ebrahimi is a Middle Eastern woman who takes her life into her hands each time she goes shopping or attends an event out in public in a way that is not approved by Sharia Law. Why? Because she lives in Iran and is expected to follow rules which dehumanise women.  Marzieh was just 25 years old in 2014 when she survived a brutal acid attack in the city of Isfahan, Iran. The attack was part of a series of assaults that targeted women in public spaces who refused to wear their hijab. The attack left her with severe and permanent injuries including the loss of an eye.
