Texas UFOs Create Chaos and Threaten Ex-President Bush ...by Bill Knell

Texas UFOs Create Chaos and Threaten Ex-President Bush ...by Bill Knell

In December of 2007 and January of 2008 the quiet farming community of Stephenville, Texas, became the subject of national news broadcasts after UFO sightings were reported there by several dozen witnesses including a pilot and police officer.

Stephenville, located about seventy miles southwest of Fort Worth, is where an object measuring approximately a mile long and about a half mile wide were spotted by locals. Witnesses said that the craft made no noise and was moving low and fast.

A few reports claim that the object with brightly lit lights on it was being pursued by military jets, but federal officials deny that claim. Spokespersons for nearby Dyess and Sheppard Air Force Bases say none of their jets were involved and claim that the Air Force no longer investigates UFOs.

Major Karl Lewis, a spokesperson for the 301st Fighter Wing at the Joint Reserve Base (Naval Air Station) in Fort Worth, says there were no F-16s or other military aircraft from his base involved. Lewis also said that what the Stephenville witnesses saw was probably an optical illusion caused by lights from one or more commercial airliners. However, UFO witness Steve Allen disagrees. Allen is the owner of a local freight hauling company, a private pilot and witness to the event. He claims that what appeared in the Stephenville skies was anything but a conventional aircraft. Allen and others say the lights changed as they watched the mile long object move across the sky. The huge craft seen last week may not have been the only strange thing seen over and near Stephenville.

Ricky Sorrells lives in Dublin and says that a flat, metallic object hovered about three hundred feet above a pasture behind his house. Ricky decided to come forward with his own story after reading about other sightings in the Stephenville Empire-Tribune.

Based on reports called into the local newspaper, UFOs had been seen in the Stephenville area for about two weeks in various forms. Very little information about the sightings were published and regional UFO research organizations have been slow to respond.

New Witnesses Shocker

While many residents of Stephenville were hoping that the hoopla over UFO sightings would die down, the story just kept growing thanks to credible reports from reliable witnesses and contradictory statements from the U.S. Military.

Despite earlier claims that no military jets were in the area at the time of the UFO sighting, Major Karl Lewis released this statement to the Press:

“An error was made regarding the reported training activity of military aircraft. 10 F-16s from the 457th Fighter Squadron were performing training operations in the Brownwood Military Operating Area."

This is the same Major Karl Lewis that claimed no F-16s or any other military aircraft were in the area at the time of the UFO sightings. Lewis made the revised statement speaking for the 301st Fighter Wing at the Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base.

It’s fascinating to listen to commanders of the U.S. Military do the same verbal dance around UFO incidents that they have been doing since the 1947 Roswell Case. They may also be employing another effective method first used in Roswell to cover-up what really happened in Stephenville.

At least two UFO witnesses in Stephenville said that they had been threatened by Government Authorities. According to several news sources covering the sightings, two people with photographic evidence were approached by people claiming to be government authorities. The witnesses were told that what they saw was some sort of a secret military project and that they would be violating the law by releasing any photos of the event.

Several meetings were held in Stephenville after the original UFO sightings began in late December of 2007 and continued well into early January of 2008. One involved a reporter that invited UFO witnesses to tell their stories. Over 200 people attended that meeting which was well received by the witnesses and the press alike

Many of the Stephenville UFO Witnesses felt frustrated because people were not taking their reports seriously. For example, several have responded to the latest statement from the U.S. Military by saying that they are used to seeing F-16s and commercial airliners in the skies above Texas and know the difference between an unidentified flying object and a jet. They also pointed out that their original report claiming F-16s were in the airspace above Stephenville on the night in question was correct. However, witnesses say the jets were chasing a UFO, not just practicing maneuvers in the skies over their town.

An unconfirmed email report came in to me at that time  regarding the January 8, 2008, UFO sighting. The sender was a person calling himself Jim. Jim is not the sender’s real name, and he opted for anonymity. All I know about the sender is that he claims to be a male, about forty years of age and says he is a private pilot. Jim says that he was flying a private, twin-engine aircraft through the area at the time of the UFO sighting and witnessed the object and F-16 jets chasing it.

Although he was careful not to reveal too many details, Jim said that he was approaching Erath County airspace when he first saw a “large, pulsating, globular object many times the size of my aircraft” at an altitude of around 5000 feet. Jim was also quick to say that his judgment concerning the size of the object may be flawed due to the distances involved between his aircraft and the UFO. Regarding the military jets involved, he said, “They (the F-16s) seemed to be in some sort of escort pattern behind and around the UFO.” Not all the witnesses to the January 8, 2008, Stephenville UFO sighting are as shy as Jim.

Constable Leroy Gaitan appeared on a podcast and told his own story. Gaitan, an elected police official in Erath County, said that he was at his house near Dublin, Texas, when he went out to his patrol car and noticed a huge, red glowing object.

After going back in the house to tell his wife about it, he came back outside and saw several white lights that seem to “dance around the sky” in place of the red glowing object.

Gaitan said they were like strobe lights that eventually came together and flew away at a very high rate of speed.

The Constable guessed that the objects he saw were about 5000 feet up in the sky which goes along with what Jim said in his email. Regarding the jets, Gaitan said that “I really do believe that the military was involved.” He also said several people called him saying that they saw the same strange lights and some claimed to have photographic evidence of their sighting. Gaitan’s young son saw the object at the same time as his dad and may have told classmates about it the next day at school.

Photos of the bright glowing light filmed above Erath County appear similar to another photo sent to me by a witness named Lisa. This forty-two year old mother of two was taking some photos in the area of Oriental, North Carolina, to send home to her family in December of 2004. She didn’t notice anything strange until the pictures were downloaded and the object appeared in one photo. Oriental is located on the coast of North Carolina.

Texas UFO and Jets May Have Entered Restricted Presidential Airspace

The laundry list of lies surrounding the Stephenville, Texas, UFO sightings is growing. Despite efforts by a military spokesperson to attribute the sightings to F-16 training maneuvers, new video shows a strange object that doesn’t look or act anything like a conventional aircraft.

On top of that, a former defense industry electronics expert now says that the F-16s may have been scrambled i byn response to a violation of restricted presidential airspace by the military.

A new video surfaced and was presented by Stephenville, Texas, resident Steve Allen, a witness to the sighting on January 8, 2008. Allen says that the video of a strange object in the sky was presented to him by an anonymous source and that it was taken on the occasion of the January 8th sighting. The video appears very similar to another UFO film taken years before which shows an object moving extremely fast and making bizarre and aerodynamically impossible moves. This new video evidence casts doubt on the current air force explanation for the event.

A new scenario that might help explain one of the Stephenville UFO sightings has entered the picture, but it’s doubtful that the Air Force or other U.S. Government Authorities will find this one helpful in their efforts to portray the affair in conventional terms. A former employee for a government contractor (now retired) told me that he worked on F-16s for many years as an electronics engineer and has his own opinion of what happened on January 8, 2008.

This informant is known to me and he claims that it would be very unlikely for so many F-16s to be on a evening or nighttime training mission at one time. Instead, he believes that the reason so many F-16s were involved in the incident is because the unidentified flying object they were chasing had violated restricted presidential airspace over the Bush Ranch in Crawford, Texas.

Our informant bases his opinion on all the information that the media, military and eyewitnesses have provided to date. He points out that a previous email from a private pilot to me mentioned that he was approaching Erath County airspace (where the events of January 8, 2008 took place) from the south and saw the object and jets in front of him indicating that they were approaching the area from the same direction. President Bush’s Crawford Ranch is south and slightly east of Stephenville.

Another Amazing Connection to the Stephenville UFOs

I received an amazing series of photos that were taken from an aircraft near Manchester, England, on 12/18/2007. The person submitting the photos writes:

"I saw similar lights as Stephenville, Texas. While flying into Manchester England on the morning of 18 Dec 2007, I awoke to a beautiful dawn. So beautiful in fact, that I woke up the person next to me. He grabbed his camera, and I grabbed mine. We both spent the next 15 minutes snapping pictures of this fantastical scene. It wasn"t until I looked at the pictures on my PC that I found that what looked like a star or satellite to my naked eye was actually something quite different. I thought that maybe I had jostled the camera while clicking it, but that would not explain the loopdy-loops! Then, when I saw the pictures from Stepheville, I had to report this!"

Despite an almost complete news blackout on the part of the national media, events in Stephenville, Texas, continued to point to something very unusual that defies normal explanation. On January 31, 2008, retired Texas Department of Public Safety Officer Mike Zimmerman, age 62, woke up around 6am to an unusual sight outside of his bedroom window:

"I saw three bright lights. Two white lights were grouped closer together and higher and the third one was closer to the horizon. That one was a was a reddish orange color."

According to StephenvilleLights.com Reporter Angelia Joiner, "The two white lights were shooting out beams of white light in a pulsating strobe light effect. The reddish orange light closer to the horizon did not have beams shooting from it."

Zimmerman worked on the elite protective detail for five Texas Governors (including George Bush) during his time with the Texas Department of Public Safety and currently works as an officer at Tarleton State University. One would say that he is a reliable witness and trained observer. He is one of at least three law enforcement officers from Texas that have reported seeing strange ariel phenomenon in and around Erath County.

Zimmerman went on to say, "At first I thought it might be three helicopters with really bright search lights until I noticed the beams of white lights shooting out to the side of the bright lights... The beams from the side weren"t as obvious as the bright big lights and they were just real quick. The whole beam would just shoot out there and just disappear. If anyone had taken a picture with a timed exposure they would have caught all of them (shooting beams) at one time. It was strange. I have never seen anything like this before at all... I hope it"s military, I know they've got things. I could go either way (opinion of military or alien) but it was out of the ordinary and I have never seen anything like it before."

Zimmerman woke up his fiancé and they both watched the event for about three minutes. As the sun rose, the light vanished. He wondered if the object might have anything to do with nearby Fort Hood?

"That"s the first thought I had, but that"s a long way off and it appeared to be closer than that," Zimmerman said.

It"s interesting to note that I reported an event involving Fort Hood, Texas, in a 1989 edition of my newsletter. A soldier serving at Fort Hood during that time reported that a large cylindrical object appeared out of nowhere during daytime maneuvers and floated through various parts of the base causing disruptions of power and confusion among the troops. He and other witnesses were interviewed by base security personnel, but he wasn"t sure what became of that.

Fort Hood has had it's own share of alleged UFO activity over the years. The same object seen in 1989 was seen in March of 1949 in the Killeen, Texas, area over what would become Fort Hood (then called Camp Hood). It appeared over the nuclear weapons storage area and was reported by several military witnesses. They described the same type of blue-white oblong object seen in 1989.

On August 2, 2007, two civilian witnesses living near Fort Hood saw two fast moving objects that looked like glowing white lights. Both witnesses were used to seeing military jets and other aircraft in the sky over their home and said that this was something completely different.

New Developments and Old Connections

What do Rochester Creek, Utah, and South Mountain Park near Phoenix, Arizona, have to do with the recent Stephenville, Texas, UFO Sightings? A lot! Both are areas where ancient rock carvings by Native Americans feature symbols and objects that appear very similar to objects filmed and photographed in and around Erath County Texas.

Jeff Woolwine has reported for many years that strange objects seen in the skies over the Southwestern USA and Mexico happen to match objects carved into rocks during ancient times. Jeff, an Arizona native, began reporting on these similarities after having his own UFO sighting of an object that was being followed by a helicopter in the Phoenix area.

After the phenomenon known as the Phoenix Lights appeared in the skies over Arizona, Nevada and parts of Mexico in March of 1997, Jeff found evidence that these events had been foretold on a rock carving from South Mountain Park. That carving is an exact representation of what was seen over Phoenix on March 13, 1997.

The Rochester Creek, Utah, rock cravings are generally considered to be around one thousand years old. In addition to the strange symbols that resemble objects seen in the skies of Texas recently, the carvings also show strange creatures with large heads and large eyes that tend to resemble what UFO researchers consider to be the Grey type of Alien.

The huge panel of rock carvings at Rochester Creek is located off of a graded road near Utah Highway 10 at milepost 16 or the Moore Cutoff Road and requires a short hike. The rock carving panel is considered to be one of the most spectacular in Utah. Historians say that the carvings were either made by the Fremont or Barrier Canyon Cultures. Others claim that among the strange symbols and a likeness of animals carved into the panel, a calendar exists that illustrates the coming of the summer and winter solstices.

South Mountain Park overlooks the Phoenix, Arizona, skyline. It was federal property until over seventy-five years ago when the U.S. Government donated it to the City of Phoenix. At over sixteen thousand acres and eleven miles across, it is the largest city park in the USA. Located in the Sonoran Desert, the park is part of two mountain ranges and is filled with rock carvings made by the Hohokam People.

The South Mountain Park rock carvings are over one thousand years old. Jeff Woolwine has studied these carvings and taken people on tours of South Mountain Park for many years. He points out the amazing similarities between the carvings and unknown objects seen and photographed in the same general area and in other places where similar carvings exist. He believes the objects might be some sort of living sky creatures or representations of humanoids.

A more recent connection to the Stephenville, Texas, UFO Sightings occurred in the Midwest USA. An object was filmed on January 31, 2008, that is an almost exact likeness of a drawing made by Constable Leroy Gaitan of an object he saw in the skies above Erath County. The photo was taken in Indiana (location undisclosed at this time). Likewise, one or more fast moving UFOs were spotted and filmed over San Antonio, Texas, on January 13, 2008 that match descriptions of some seen over and near Stephenville.

Every since the infamous January 8, 2008, mass UFO Sighting in the Stephenville area, a number of developments have occurred that are directly connected to that and other sightings in Texas. While initially tolerant of the attention that the UFO sightings brought to the farming communities of Erath County, Texas, the feelings of some apparently changed after a UFO research organization (not associated with IPUS) held meetings in the area to investigate the matter.

Members of the press initially received high marks from most UFO Researchers for their coverage of the Erath County UFO sightings in print, over the airwaves and on screen. That changed after the UFO witness meeting. A Texas newspaper likened members of the UFO research group that held the meeting to the Scooby Doo Gang and noted that they didn’t even bring near enough sighting reports for everyone present.

Just days after that big meeting, a local politician complained about the way the press was blowing the entire event out of all proportions. Shortly after that, Stephenville Empire- Tribune Reporter Angelia Joiner said she was told to stop writing stories about the UFO sightings. She was also asked to stop wasting newspaper time on responding to the many emails and phone calls coming into the newspaper about the sightings.

It’s fair to say that Angelia Joiner’s stories about the UFO sightings brought national and international attention to Stephenville and caused her newspaper to experience record sales for the month of January. Given that, it‘s hard to understand the sudden change that occurred in editorial policy toward the UFO sightings. Angelia gave her two weeks notice to the Stephenville Empire-Tribune feeling that she was unable to satisfy her employer.

Unwilling to simply abandon the local UFO witnesses or disregard all the emails and requests for more information coming her way, Angelia decided that leaving the newspaper would be her best course of action. At least two of the witnesses she was writing about had multiple sightings after the January 8, 2008, event and claimed they were being harassed by government or military authorities. They weren’t the only ones to experience harassment.

Just one week into her two week notice, Angelia was suddenly confronted one morning by the newspaper publisher. The published asked her to leave the building immediately and confiscated her computer and rolodex. Angelia indicated later that she was shocked believing that she was leaving the newspaper on good terms with her employer. In various interviews since that time, Angelia remains unable to understand why she was treated in such a manner.

During a recent radio interview, someone that must have picked up on my findings regarding the Bush Ranch connection asked Angelia Joiner if the idea that jets were chasing the UFO because they breached presidential airspace was a possible scenario. She said that based on what witnesses and others had told her, it was. She also pointed out that a military spokesperson that had originally been cordial to her when she made initial inquiries about the military jets reportedly seen over Erath County, recently changed his attitude completely.

Joiner made a friendly inquiry to the office of Major Karl Lewis, a spokesperson for a joint military operating area that would know about any military jets over Stephenville. Angelia described his attitude as cordial and indicated that he said he would look into the matter and get back to her. Shortly after that, Lewis made his first public statement saying that no that military aircraft were flying over the Stephenville area on January 8, 2008. He later reversed that statement saying that F-16s were involved in some sort of training exercises over the town. He also said these were not unusual and that the aircrafts were operating in an area designated for such exercises.

Local pilots were quick to point out to Angelia that Major Lewis was wrong. The jets were in an area well outside of the normal airspace designated for training purposes. Even stranger, Angelia said that when she tried to call Lewis back for more comments on the matter, he was no longer cordial and sounded like he was reading a prepared statement over the phone no matter what question she asked. When confronted about it, he told her, “That’s all I can tell you.”

My latest information comes from someone that claims to work for a member of Congress. I have exchanged emails back and forth with him for about a week. Based on the little that I know about him and have been able to verify, I do believe he has connections to a member of Congress.

My source says that members of at least one congressional committee were briefed on the Stephenville sightings. He would not say what they were told (and may not know), but said that they were notified that the President was also briefed on whatever was happening with UFOs in Texas. I dislike unnamed sources, but what he is saying is obvious and makes sense.

Angelia Joiner wrote an Article which appeared in the Stephenville Empire Tribune on February 3, 2008, which exposed the fact that Ricky Sorrells told her that government authorities were harassing him. Sorrells claimed that military jets were flying low over his property in Dublin, Texas, on a regular basis at all hours of the day and night. These flights were upsetting his livestock and keeping him from getting any sleep.

There may be a reason that government authorities are harassing Sorrells. He has now seen the large object that hovered over a pasture behind his property and made the international news on four separate occasions. Ricky says that the government wants answers from him that he can’t provide. A person claiming to be an Air Force Colonel contacted Ricky Sorrells on January 15, 2008 by phone. He demanded to know everything that Ricky knew about the object and said, “You need to shut your mouth about what you saw.”

At one point the Colonel told Sorrells that the airspace above his property belonged to the government and that he (the Colonel) would be out to speak with Ricky in person. Sorrells warned him not to come on his property, but the Colonel said he would come and bring weapons if necessary to get the answers he was looking for. After that, helicopters started buzzing his home on a regular basis. After other area residents reported the military helicopters, those flights stopped, but the jets kept flying over his house and property at all hours.

On February 4, 2008, Angelia Joiner filed another story on the Sorrells matter. In that article, she reported that Ricky had been personally visited by people claiming to be from the military. She said that these unwelcome guests had threatened him and come close to his house in the middle of the night. She also followed up with more details on the entire Sorrells UFO case.
Despite what appears to me to be fair treatment of a controversial subject and timely reporting of the current events surrounding an important story, Angelia Joiner says that the Empire Tribune was no longer interested in continuing their professional relationship with her.

She states the following in an email to anyone interested in her situation:

"I think my readers would find a lot more of this sort of story interesting but my newspaper doesn"t want any more stories. My boss feels it’s time to move on. A city councilman here talked to the Star-Telegram and said the whole thing was an embarrassment to the town (or something to that effect). It has been a tough decision but I gave my two weeks notice last Thursday and my last day will be Feb. 14. At that time, I will be unemployed so I probably will substitute teach for a while.”

Angelia’s resignation is not the end of the story. She reveals these shocking facts in the same email:

"I gave two weeks" notice, but this morning they had confiscated my computer and I was told to pack up and get out. I"m devastated and still in shock. I was trying to direct people away from talking to me about UFOs and other information during work hours and I had forwarded emails to my home computer so I would not be dealing with that on newspaper time. But, apparently that wasn’t the right thing to do either… The publisher said she didn"t want me to leave with ill feelings toward the newspaper and I’m trying not to."

Whether it’s small town politics or a case of something more sinister, Angelia is out. I’m sure that I am not the only person that finds that extremely unfair. For all intents and purposes, Joiner helped break one of the most important stories ever. Whether you believe that UFOs are Alien Spacecraft, think it’s all crap or simply feel that the military was up to something strange over Stephenville, Texas, you have to wonder why the news is only the news when a newspaper publisher says it is.

More UFO Sightings and Less Coverage

On the heels of the forcing out of Angelia Joiner and flip-flop statements from the military, we now have repeat sightings by some of the UFO witnesses that first came forward. Constable Gaitan and Ricky Sorrells have both had additional UFO sightings and they have the video and photos to prove it.

While I’m sure that the Nay Sayers and skeptics in Erath County were hoping that the forcing out of Empire Tribune Reporter Angelia Joiner and the ridiculous statements from the Air Force would put an end to the stories of UFOs in their skies, the Aliens are not cooperating. They keep coming back for more despite the absence of any objective reporting on the matter at the local newspaper and at least one local politician that has verbally hung out the Aliens Not Welcome sign.

One of the first and most credible UFO witnesses from Erath County was Constable Leroy Gaitan. Gaitan saw the same object that many others in the area viewed on January 8, 2008. He was able to describe his sighting in a lucid and matter of fact manner during various radio and television interviews. Gaitan described a red glow that faded and reappeared. He then saw bright white lights that he said “bounced” around the sky and eventually took off at an incredible speed. His eight year old son was present during that sighting.

Gaitan had two more sightings in February. The first occurred on February 2, 2008, He states:

“It was February 2nd in the early morning hours. I videotaped it for about 40 minutes. It was an object with red, green, and blue lights. I was on U.S Hwy. 377 by Woody’s looking south towards Dublin. It was about a quarter of the size of a full moon. It was several thousand feet up, maybe 4,500 or 5,000 feet up, I don’t know. I zoomed in 168X and you could see it was round and spinning. Something that could not be seen with the naked eye and you could almost see through it. There was what looked like a pyramid or triangle shape on the inside of the thing.”

Gaitan’s next UFO sighting occurred on February 9, 2008. He states:

“This time I was in St. Gobain’s parking lot in Stephenville close to the same time in the early morning. I was looking east northeast of Dublin. I videoed for 10 minutes and zoomed in, but it was too far. It was moving, but not real fast. It was spinning and shooting off colors. I’m fairly certain this thing spins. This time I could not see through it… It does not match what we saw on Jan. 8, but it was as big as that one was. The first time I didn’t see all the colors -- it was a white strobe light, LED type of light."

Gaitan wasn’t the only witness. He goes on to say:

“That night a friend called and said he was seeing something through his telescope, an object southeast of my house. I went outside and there it was. It was moving southeast towards Gustine. I watched it for at least 30 minutes and took several pictures. I called my sister and she had seen it, too, and so did her neighbor. Then this guy calls me back about 11:30 and said there is another one coming in from the Selden area. He said it was moving towards Dublin. We go out and we can see it looking toward Harbin. We went to County Road 847 and we took several pictures with the new Cannon camera we purchased with a special lens. It appeared to be the same thing that was hovering southeast of my house and we never lost sight of it. Then my sister called and they saw it again, too. It headed southwest. Then we lost sight of the first one we’d seen for a little bit and then it reappeared. Then, there was two of them; one in the southwest sky and one in the northeast sky.”

Most people that have followed the Stephenville UFO sightings recall seeing Ricky Sorrells in various television news reports. He said that he saw a large object over a pasture behind his house on January 8, 2008. He also made subsequent claims of being harassed by people claiming to be from the Air Force that want answers he doesn’t have and that told him to stop talking about his sightings. It is a fact that others in the area have witnessed helicopters and jets flying over his property at low altitudes during all hours of the day and night.

On February 9, 2008, Sorrells had his first nighttime sighting. He has had four during the day and states the following about his latest encounter:

“It was about an hour after the sun went down, maybe 7 or 7:30 p.m. I was coming back from the store in Dublin. When I crossed my cattle guard I looked past my big oak tree and there it was about a mile away. The lights were erratic red, blue and green and then they kind of combined and made a white light that glowed. I stopped and rolled down my window and yelled at it. I told it to ‘Leave me alone!’ I went ahead and went up my driveway and got out. I looked and it was still there. I just went in the house and shut the door because I really didn’t want to see it anymore.”

It seems that not even members of the press are immune from the UFO sightings in Erath County. The owner and publisher of the Dublin Citizen now claims that he had a sighting on February 9, 2008. Mac McKinnon states:

“Somebody called me at 8 Saturday evening to tell me about it. I was at home and went out and looked up and there it was. It was way too big to be a helicopter and it had red, green and white lights. I’ve never seen this before. Later, I got in my car but I never got closer to it. I didn’t really see anything but lights. I quit chasing it about 11 p.m. and went to bed. Nobody’s making this stuff up but I think it’s military. I think they were normal looking navigational lights. A lot of things get developed and tested around here that nobody realizes.”

At this point it’s unlikely that the military has chosen to test fly secret aircraft over Erath County, especially considering the publicity that the area is currently receiving. However, you never know. Perhaps the sightings are the result of some clandestine skunk works project gone awry?
