Skinwalkers, Actual Photos, UFO Activity, Government Cover Ups and Unexplained Events in Utah

Compiled by Bill Knell

Paranormal activity in Utah has peaked since the 1990s and is still going strong in 2025. This activity includes evidence of Skinwalkers, UFO sightings and encounters, unexplained animal mutilations accomplished with surgical precision and U.S. Government cover ups. I have posted news stories and some UFO and other photos in this article. I decided against posting any animal mutilation photos because they are too gruesome.

In Navajo culture a Skinwalker (yee naaldlooshii) is a type of harmful witch that has the ability to turn into, possess, or disguise themselves as an animal or another person. The term is not used for healers. In the Navajo language, yee naaldlooshii translates to "by means of it, [he or she] goes on all fours".

The yee naaldlooshii is one of several varieties of Navajo witch. The legend of the Skinwalkers is not well understood outside of Navajo culture, mostly due to reluctance to discuss the subject with outsiders.

Navajo witches like the Skinwalker represent the antithesis of Navajo cultural values. Community healers and cultural workers are known as medicine men and women. Witches are evildoers who perform twisted ceremonies and manipulate magic for their own benefit. Traditional healers learn about both good and evil magic. Most can handle the responsibility, but some people become corrupt and choose to become witches.

Animals associated with witchcraft include the coyote, as well as other creatures associated with death or bad omens. Skinwalkers can possess living animals or people by locking eyes with them and walk around in their bodies. Skinwalkers may be male or female. Most are male..

BASIC SKINWALKER CHARACTERISTICS (according to Native Americans):

Skinwalkers are Navajo people who can shape shift into animal forms, the most common being coyotes, wolves, foxes, eagles, owls or crows. They can adopt the facial characteristics of other people and appear as someone you know like Doppelgangers.

They can possess people and control them. Some are schooled enough in Native Medicine to turn others chosen by them into Skinwakers and prepare exotic potions and poisons using dead human bodies.

In an altered state the Skinwalker has tremendous strength and endurance. These beings are seen throughout the USA. Most appear near Navajo Reservations. Other Native Tribes may have similar stories, creatures and their own traditions. A Skinwalker may be killed by speaking its actual name.

AND UFOs (UAPs) IN UTAH

Many UFO Researchers believe that DUGWAY PROVING GROUND in Utah is the new Area 51. Access to the complex is highly restricted.

The Skinwalker Ranch in Utah

Skinwalker Ranch (also called Sherman Ranch or UFO Ranch) is a large property near the small town of Ballard, Utah that is almost 500 acres in size. It boarders the Ute Indian Reservation. The Utes will not enter the area known as Skinwalker Ranch because they believe it is fertile territory for skinwalkers:

“The Utes take this very seriously. They think the Skinwalkers are powerful spirits that are here because of a curse that was put on them generations ago by the Navajos. And the center of the whole legend is this ranch. The Utes say the ranch is “the path of the skinwalker.” Tribe members are strictly forbidden from setting foot on the property. It’s been that way for a long time.”

Animal skins on skulls to keep evil beings away (Native practice)

Since the 1950s the Skinwalker Ranch has been a hotbed of UFO activity (according to locals). In 1994 Skinwalker Ranch became well known when Terry and Gwen Sherman (the names are popular pseudonyms for the real family) and their children purchased the property only to be driven from the home after two years of increasingly terrifying paranormal events.

When the family moved in, they found deadbolts on doors and windows that puzzled them. Some of the doors and windows had deadbolts on both the inside and the outside. They also found large chains outside that looked like they may be for the purpose of restraining a heavy animal.

While they lived on the ranch the family experienced multiple cattle mutilations, crop circles, hearing voices calling from nowhere, inanimate objects moving before their eyes, UFOs and seeing strange birds and other animals on the property. In one instance, the family saw a wolf attacking one of their cattle. They shot the wolf multiple times with a handgun. The wolf did not react to the gunshots at all and appeared unharmed while it continued to attack the cattle. After being shot six times, the wolf ran off and vanished.

In another instance, the family saw their field lit up as if by “football stadium lights”. They observed a UFO larger than “two football fields” and alien figures “over seven feet tall”.

In two years the family lost 20% of their heard to cattle mutilation. In 1996 the family vacated their home. Later that year billionaire Robert Bigelow (he owns Budget Suites) bought the ranch for $200,000 and made it the home of a paranormal research group, The National Institute for the Discovery of Science, which operated until 2004. The organization was later replaced by the Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies.

In 2007, a secret, unclassified government program, The Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program, began investigating UFOs. The program had a $22 million budget and Robert Bigelow received much of that money. Bigelow’s findings were that the UFOs seen in the area were “not consistent” with current military aircrafts.

In 2016 Skinwalker Ranch was sold for $4.5 million to “Adamantium Holdings” a shell corporation of unknown origin. Afterwards, a public road that had gone through the property was closed. The road is now guarded.

ACTUAL ENCOUNTERS…

ENALDLOOSHI IS WATCHING ME

My grandmother on my mothers side has always been very Superstitious, for lack of better word, she’s not religious, but she does believe in a lot of paranormal stuff.

Her mother was full-blooded Navajo and her father was Irish. Either way, she’d never been anywhere east of Montana and she grew up in Nevada.

One year, when I was in grade school, we went to visit her, most of the visit was pretty uneventful, typical boring old people stuff, except she always kept her curtains drawn shut and would always peek out the window and when someone asked what she was doing, she would simply reply ” Yenaldlooshi is watching me”

This went on for nearly the entire visit until a few days before we were due to leave, My grandma and my (then) baby brother (he’s 19 now lol) were in the front yard that evening, planting flowers when all of a sudden, my grandmother starts shouting “Insert little brothers name here get away from that creature! It’s not safe!” of course, being in Nevada, we all assumed that my brother had found a scorpion or a rattle snake, so we all run outside, to see my Grandmother clutching my little brother and shaking in terror against the side of the house, standing out in the yard, was a large, black, great-dane sized dog, it was staring at my grandmother with an intensity I’d never seen before. It looked up at us, gave a little huff and bounded off, I don’t remember if it moved unusually fast or not, but do remember it had really deep yellow eyes.

When my mother asked my grandmother what had happened, she kept repeating ” The Yenaldlooshi has found me”. She moved a couple weeks after that.

ON THE REZ ALONE AT NIGHT

My uncle and cousin saw a large deer on the side of the road. When they got closer it hopped over the fence like a bipedal man. One time driving back from Gallup, my dad saw an old navajo woman walking on the side of the road and when he slowed to offer her a ride she took off into the plains, quickly with inhuman speed. Once when I was a kid, my family was at my Aunt’s house which is in a rural secluded area when we were toyed with by a few entities. They would make animal noises and when we looked to the direction from which the noises were coming they would turn a flashlight on and off. The noises would come from all directions, in increasingly shorter succession. Usually when I’m there, on the reservation visiting, alone late at night I will feel the presence of evil and dread, panic and paranoia will wash over me and as sudden as it comes it will leave.

IT MOVED LIKE A TOY ROCKING HORSE

My uncle is Mexican and American. This happened in the Mojave Desert in southern California. He was driving around with his girlfriend late at night and they saw something that looked like a huge black dog on the side of the road. He slowed down and the dog began crossing the road. Instead of walking like a normal dog would, this thing moved like a toy rocking horse. He said it stopped in the middle of the road and stared right at them and it’s eyes had a red glow. My uncle is the most badass person I know and it scared the crap out of him.
